Description

A ubiquitous domestic tool found in many 18th and early 19th century bedrooms and attics, this bed wrench is five inches long with a four-inch handle.

A bed wrench (or bed key) normally came with two or more arms radiating in the form of a cross or star. They were used for turning the bed bolts which secured the head and foot-board of a bed to the side rails, and enabled the bed to be separated into pieces.
